Our Story

A family kitchen, brought from home to Buffalo.

Chef Jamshad Uddin grew up cooking the food of his homeland — fragrant biryanis, char-grilled kebabs, and the Bangladeshi-Chinese fusion that comes from two kitchens sharing one spice rack. After the pandemic, he and his family moved to Buffalo and opened Ahar in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.

Today it's a true family operation. Jamshad's wife and son work alongside him every day — the same hands that roll the momo dumplings greet you at the counter. That warmth is the point. Ahar isn't a takeout template; it's a seat at the family table.

Everything is Zabiha halal-certified, and the prices are kept low on purpose. Jamshad wants the whole neighborhood to be able to eat well — so a generous plate of biryani stays within reach, not a luxury.

And then there's the part regulars know best: ask for it your way. Extra spicy for you, mild for the kids, a dish that isn't on the menu but you remember from home — if it can be made, Jamshad will make it. That "why wouldn't I?" attitude is what turns first-time visitors into regulars.

Halal-Certified

Zabiha halal across the whole menu — no exceptions.

Family-Run

Custom Orders

Ask for any dish your way. If it can be made, it will be.

You'll usually find Jamshad behind the counter. Stop in, say hello, and tell him what you're hungry for — chances are he's already planning how to make it.
